I’m a day late with the post due to the cold monkey that jumped on my back yesterday. Better late than never!
I’ve been attending the Low Country Oyster Festival at Boone Hall Plantation since the early 90’s. It’s always held on the last Sunday in January and has grown to one of the top 20 events in the southeast, and is the world’s largest oyster festival!!! If you’ve never been, you are missing out on an extra large time! This event is put on by The Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, Inc.
The festival is full of fun, food, great music, oyster shucking and eating contests. 80,000 pounds of oysters were on hand and I was told they ran out at 3pm on Sunday. I’m not surprised. This event has the best oysters I have ever eaten!
Each year, we never know what to expect with the weather. If the weather is sunny and warm, then Katie, bar that door! This past Sunday was slightly cool and sunny and still drew an enormous crowd. The festivities began at 10:30 with Not So Serious taking the stage. They are an awesome band and they kept the crowd movin’ and shakin’! Their #1 fan is the beautiful chicklet below.

See ya next year!
